AT O’SHEA’S OLDE INN 7PM ALL VETERANS INVITED
The Commander would like to thank all who made the Veterans Day Weekend a huge success. Our post collected 2 SUV’s of items and $500 in checks for Cape Cod Cares For Our Troops. Special thanks to Post members Joe MacDonald, Greg Buckley, Terry Clen and supporter Sean Brennan for performing at the three Concerts. The two Veterans Day Services were well attended. Nice article in the Register 11/13 about the service. A letter to the Editor 11/13 by a person named Bill McCormick critical of our services that day was addressed and printed 11/20 in the Register editorial section.
We will deliver turkeys thanks to Bonnie from the Hyannis VA at 474 West Main St. December 13th is our Annual visit to Eagle Pond Nursing Home 2-4PM with Johnny O’Sullivan singing, Members Sam Franco as Santa & Joe “cookies on the flight line” Fallon as the “elf”. December 14th is our Annual Salute to The Troops Concert at the Sons of Erin 1-5PM, donation $10. This years theme is “Rat Pack” music. Post Christmas Party is Sunday December 21st at the Claddagh Inn in the Kerry Room, 4-5PM Cocktail Hour, 5PM is Buffet, we will have entertainment, cost $15-20, guest welcome, please let us know if you wish to attend. Our Annual Chili Fest at the Irish Village is Feb. 15th 1-5PM.
We will produce 2 new Ch 17 programs in December. Veterans needing Fuel assistance or other needs log on to www.capecodveterans.org our other site we are having trouble with the Amvets web site and its email. Thanks goes to “Black Jack” & Eileen Connell and Bill Black for their donations. Remember the Sons of Ed Wood Movie Club every Tues. 5PM at the Claddagh Inn. A Scramble & Gamble is planned for Foxwoods in the spring. Vinny “Old Grump” Fontaine will run this.
Welcome new member Greg Buckley. New life members, Terry Clen & Dennis Leary. Commander appoints Muriel as Secretary, 1st Vice John Connell, 2nd Vice Mike Mahoney & Historian/Bugler Carl Copp as Web Masters.
Plaque for Eagle Scout from Dennis will be awarded. We work closely with the scouting programs in the area, they are well run and deserve our support. New VA Clinic opened and given rave reviews. Many members are now in process of filing for benefits/compensation. Call our # at 508-240-SERV or email at CCV. A trip to the Intrepid Aircraft Carrier & Museum is in the early stage. Remember The VFW in Hyannis & Brewster, American Legion Post 206, Yankee Div. Veterans, Marine Corps League, if eligible you should support them, we are all veterans and we all need new members.
